Jenifer Schaye joined the Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s Office (LLA) as General Counsel in 2000. She is a graduate of the University of Dallas and of St. Louis University Law School and is admitted to practice law in Texas (1978) and Louisiana (1979). Jenifer has substantial experience in the governmental arena giving her a broad knowledge of the processes of government. Prior to joining the LLA, she was a Louisiana Assistant Attorney General for eleven years.

As LLA’s General Counsel, Jenifer advises on public law issues and laws relating to fiscal matters, ethics issues, and all public laws impacting political subdivisions on the local and state levels. Jenifer also serves as the Legislative Auditor’s designee on the Louisiana Law Enforcement Officers and Firemen’s Survivor Benefit Review Board. In addition, Jenifer represents the LLA in those matters where they are called to testify and/or to produce records for inquiry by state and federal courts. She advises the Louisiana Legislative Audit Advisory Council on relevant audit law issues.
